Airport protesters attack Blue Peter for glorifying aviation

Post by Ben »

With John Lennon returning his MBE in mind, can we expect thousands of the outraged middle class to be returning their Blue Peter badges in disgust? :?
Stansted protesters attack Blue Peter for 'glorifying' aviation
Is it Plane Stupid to target Blue Peter? Protesters say the show 'glorifies' the aviation industry

PROTESTERS who stormed Stansted airport have found a new target - children's television programme Blue Peter. The group Plane Stupid has written to the BBC accusing Blue Peter of "glorifying" the aviation industry.

Programme makers incurred their wrath over the broadcast of an item about Heathrow's new Terminal 5. The protesters claimed Blue Peter's coverage was a more "outrageous insult" than Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand's decision to tape and then broadcast abusive messages to Andrew Sachs. In a letter to the BBC, Leo Murray, a hardcore activist with Plane Stupid who has been arrested on a number of occasions for direct action, wrote: "I am outraged that the BBC is using Blue Peter to provide free advertising for BAA's Terminal 5.

... In a statement the BBC said today: "Blue Peter is renowned for bringing stories about the environment to children, including a green special with tips on holidaying at home to avoid flying and an up-coming renewable energy special. There's also nothing unusual about covering big changes in transport in this country as we know kids like it."

So how do we build environmentally friendly aircraft then? With a (recycled) washing up liquid bottle and sticky back plastic?!! :)

Here's a joke I made earlier . . . had to get that one in.
'The honey bee is vital to the environment! Every year in America, they pollinate six billion dollars worth of crops! If you kill the bee, you're gonna kill the crop! If you kill the plants, you'll kill the people!'

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this. I wondered what that crowd outside our front door wanted.

Peter.
Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the seconds to hours?
