Who would have thought free speech was such a thing to be feared?

Free speech is fine most of the time. Incitement to try to violently overthrow a democratic election is not.

And when free speech is used to blatantly lie to a mostly captive audience who will not listen to anyone else's truth is that, in fact, free speech or is it propaganda?

It's not totally 'free speech' though is it ?
It's who Elon Musk decides can have 'free speech'....

Twitter charity partners condemn Musk's 'dangerous' changes:

So, Donald Trump and Kayne West are now OK....

Twitter boss Elon Musk keeps conspiracy theorist Alex Jones off platform:

But Alex Jones isn't OK....

If Musk is 'better' than his predecessors then that's a win.

He is worse. He has used 44B to buy the right to say who can speak freely and who can't. He is accountable to no one on his decisions, and he has only used the most vague language to describe his ethical decisions.

Who were they accountable to?

We know that the greatest weapon is to control information. When you control information you have some control over the minds that consume it.
It seems free speech (whether true or false) is OK as long as it left wing free speech. When it is right wing free speech it becomes propaganda or a danger to society.

No. It was a democratic vote ( Not me, not on social media) of the twitter users that decided to let trump on.

Much better than a secret committee who cannot be challenged on the metrics of the Algo that banned him.

No...., Elon Musk decides whether you're in, out, or subject to a 'democratic' vote...
Those currently getting banned includes anybody that dares to mock him...

Twitter Bans Accounts Mocking 'Free Speech Absolutist' Elon Musk:
https://time.com/6229960/twitter-bans-a ... rsonators/
Days after Elon Musk declared that “comedy is now legal on Twitter,” the platform banned several comedians for parody tweets in which they impersonated its new owner. Among the suspended accounts were comic Kathy Griffin and internet personality Ethan Klein, who both had verified “blue check” accounts.

Glenn Greenwald, he who helped bring to the world Edward Snowden's revelations, and an ardent free speech enthusiast, who has been locked up in the pursuit of free speech has a few words about rattling the wokeries cage,

"It is hard to overstate how manic, primal and unhinged is the reaction of corporate media employees to the mere prospect that new Twitter owner Elon Musk may restore a modicum of greater free speech to that platform"
