Where's Ralph McTell when you need him?

Have these young people not got jobs to go to?

Of course. It's just that they've all organised annual leave at the same time.

Not totally unlike the cabinet, come to think of it.

I mean when will this bunch start to get a proper diet?
No wonder they break stuff.

Barclays Bank smashed up in East Ham.
Bet they couldn't find any money.

The problem is caused by groups of youths numbering in dozens or even a couple of hundred. The police encourage the rest of the public to stay away.

There are millions of law abiding citizens. If, instead of hiding away, the good millions came out onto the street, behaving like a Big Society should, the bad guys would be instantly overwhelmed.

Biff is actualy almost there.

The usual response is for the government to create a large force of emergency deputised sherrifs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartists# ... 8_petition
100,000 special constables were recruited to bolster the police force.[
The government will be faced with a choice, either collapse, or violently break the rioters.

Electors arent going to punish the government for shooting looters.

THe middle class are only a couple of paydays away from joining the rioters, and that margin gets slimmer daily as wages are frozen, inflation eats away at them, energy companies put fuel bills up, health and social services are cut, tax credit goes, bankers and top executives continue their obscene manipulation of the gravy train they've created while the govt proposes tax cuts for their buddies in the top 1%, and more and more people see the quality of life eroded and the prospects of improvement for their children evaporate.

Do you keep that in a text file to copy and paste?
Or is it updated daily on LabourList?

No. You are correct. The situation becomes more absurd daily as regards politicians bumchumming up to their benefactors. There isn't even any effort made to hide it.

Do you think these riots are over ?
(I mean untill the next ones)

Isn't it a bit "overblown" by the media ?

No, although I don't quite understand why it is getting 100% coverage on the TV news when there are so many other important things happening in the world right now.
We must deal with reality or it will deal with us.

Yes, you are wrong.
health and social services are cut

http://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/downc ... r=c&title=

Thats what we call an increase, its kind of the opposite of a cut.

But of course, what exactly does this have to do with shooting rioters and looters?

Speaking of cuts
Are you aware that the insurance companies dont pay out for riot damage? Are you aware that local councils are legally obliged to do so?
By burning down buildings, the rioters are closing there own parks and sure start centres, well, not theres obviously, but those of the people you think will be upset when they are shot...

I don't see any difference between the bankers, thieving politicians, corrupt senior cops and these looters. Other than those 'educated' and 'respected' looters were far more ambitious and covert than the street thugs are.

The 'squeezed middle' - the frontline cops, public sector workers, small businesses, shop workers, will be required to cover the losses one way or another.
