Re: Ukraine Watch...
You are definitely getting your number of posts bumped up on this thread. I think most of us have notifications on our phones you know, but don't let me stop you posting.
To me, in the absence of more information, this seems like a kind of repeat of the Nord-Ost theatre attack (when I was in Moscow the guide pointed this location out to me as we were driving, as well as the tiny mark in the concrete of a metro station from another terrorist attack).
The list of suspects is quite large. Chechens, Ukrainians, Bashkirs, Karelians, Tatar, Adygea ... I could go on with another dozen ethno-religious groups that Russia has invaded in the past few centuries. Also bear in mind that Moscow is about 50% Muslim so there are a lot of possible suspects there.
I will add that I think if the Ukraine government are behind this they are not helping their cause at all. False flag by the FSB perhaps? Plausible given the apartment block bombings early in Putin's rule - just read the Anna Politkovskaya book. And just after the Russian election is convenient timing.

G'Day cobber!
Re: Ukraine Watch...
This is by no means the first terrorist attack on this scale in Putin's Russia. It is obviously a horrible loss of life, and a major PR hit for Putin. He will very publicly retaliate against his chosen purpetrators. (Not necessarily the actual purpetrators).
I do not think it is true in this case, but Putin has a history of false flag terror attacks when he still needed to galvenise public opinion against the Chechens a couple of decades ago. I am certain that if he could pin this on UKraine, he will.
When official comment is absent in an event like this, it usually indicates that Putin is rattled. He does not like being taken by surprise. Until he has personally chosen the official line, no official dare mention the events at all.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Islamic State have claimed responsibility. This is certainly their style, but they often claim other people's attacks if they are brutal and vicious enough.
The Russian PM has laid the suggestion that it might have been Ukraine, right on cue. He has signalled retribution against the purpetretors AND their families.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
I doubt it was either Ukraine behind it, or a Kremlin false flag. Russia has plenty of locals willing and able to carry out this kind of thing.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
I have posted about this attack in the "jihad watch" thread as it seems to be islamic state and unrelated to the war in Ukraine

IS are a US construct. Quite possibly directly. Almost certainly indirectly.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Some of the people involved have been detained so I expect more will be known fairly soon.
It’s probably well worth waiting a while for better information rather than jumping to conclusions.
“Eleven people total have been detained connected with the terror attack which the Federal Security Service (FSB) has said includes "four terrorists who were directly involved in the terrorist attack on Crocus." They are not Russian nationals, security services said.”

He has certainly signaled retribution. As has Putin. What else would you expect? I have seen nothing, however, indicating that families of perpetrators are to be served retribution. Care to share your source for that?Ralphw2 wrote: ↑22 Mar 2024, 21:34 Islamic State have claimed responsibility.
