That nice Mr Kunstler says repos "4closures") in the USA are grinding to a halt because the paper-trails of who owns what asset/debt have been so badly set-up and maintained.

The implications for any future property market are...interesting.

Haven't we decided that we don't need to take it out of the Co-op? My nearest branch is 35 miles away!
The co -op might run out of money (hopefully only short term, not permanently bust)
Remember that most cash withdrawals are via cashpoint machines, and that customers of other banks can use co-op machines, and vice versa.

If other banks became insolvent, the Coop would very quickly (within minutes) stop accepting their bank cards in the Coop's cash machines.

Calling Alex Scarrow.... You still there?

I already got me a Co-op debit card, along with a Co-op ATM in the village, and food and fuel stocks. I might even switch on the TV to watch this one.

I tried to pay some cash into my Co-op account at the Post Office today. I've had the account for about 13 years, and never knew you couldn't do it! So if the Co-op runs out of money, some of it's in my wallet!

Apparently you will be able to bank cash from January, if we still have a banking system!

For all the interest you get you may as well have it under the bed.

Just leave enough in to pay your bills.

That's what I'll be doing. 8)

My bed has four wheels and an engine. I don't fancy leaving too much under it!

You're being given duff info there John - I've paid into my a/c via the Post Office. A fairly unusual occurrence, mind.

An obsession with gold can make you end up wearing silly clothes, and turning into a rather unpleasant person!
