World petrol congress opens in Spain

Post by peaky2 »

Under the motto, "A world in transition: delivering energy for sustainable growth," the Congress - often referred to as the Olympics of the oil industry - is expected to attract more than 4,000 delegates from 60 countries.

Sustainable growth:

1900...1/2 a planet
2000...the whole planet
2100...two planets
2200...4 planets

spot the flaw in the plan!!

Looks like the term 'Transition' is busy being appropriated by the fossil fuel sector. If you can't beat them - take their idea and redefine it as your own.

One problem with having a 'brand' as such . . .

Hasn't the word 'Transition' already been appropriated - I do mean of course Trademarked?

Precisely my point . . . if it isn't formalised, it can't be ripped off. Probably makes the case for mobbsey's kind of 'non-organisation' approach really.

Presumably as long as the FF industry (or anyone else for that matter) uses the word with a small 't', they can't get into any trouble. Another slight flaw in getting it copyrighted maybe.

Meanwhile, at the Madrid Stock Exchange today, the "No Blood for Oil" brigade turned up, stormed the building and shouted a bit. The first of many protests they have organised to celebrate the 19th World Petroleum do.

Photos and videos of the anti-oil industry mob having fun here. Can't see the point really but...

That word again. It has become quite, quite meaningless. I for one decided to avoid use of the 's' word some months ago.
