Ukraine said they hit a centre for disabled people and the Russian press conference lady in somewhat farcical circumstances was phoned up mid press conference and told by a clearly audible male voice on the phone not to talk about the attack on the missile facility in Dnipro. Russians like these farcical press conferences - I recall the noisy lady at the Kursk press conference in 2001, early in Putin's rule, being silenced by the doctors with the huge syringe

A bit like the ballet dancer who fell out recently. Those Russian windows need to come with a health warning methinks.

Drones are buzzing US airbases in the UK. Maybe we need a new thread - apparent Russian hybrid attacks against Ukrainian allies.

How long before the government acknowledges these attacks and starts asking the public to look out for suspicious activity? I suspect never - don't want to scare the horses.

Russian forces’ recent confirmed battlefield gains near Vuhledar and Velyka Novosilka demonstrate that the war in Ukraine is not stalemated. The frontline in Donetsk Oblast is becoming increasingly fluid as Russian forces recently have been advancing at a significantly quicker rate than they did in the entirety of 2023...

Russian forces have succeeded in taking advantage of the seizure of Vuhledar for further offensive operations in western Donetsk Oblast, contrary to an incorrect previous ISW assessment that forecasted otherwise.

Russian lads are right now rampaging in the centre of Kurakhove. Ukrainian defences in shambles everywhere.

A Russian general has just been fired and probably should avoid high buildings after his superiors discovered that the large advances he reported his troops had been making in the eastern front lines were faked by infiltrating tiny numbers of troops behind the Ukranian lines and planting and photographing Russian flags before running back to their own lines.

Widely reported in western media, quoting Putin controlled Russian sources that the general had been sacked. The fake claims of Russian advances were widely discussed by war watchers a few weeks ago. There is reportedly one Kremlin linked telegram channel that links the two events.

Ruble has fallen 10% in value in the last couple of days, as their central bank is running short of foreign currency to help support it. Now at 113 to the dollar. The west has recently increased sanctions on Russian banks, including gazprombank.

Special money printing operation maybe. I doubt it will make much effect due to the commodity nature of Russia's exports and their relative self sufficiency in military hardware - poor hardware in general.

Putin is accelerating the rhetoric with threats of massive IRBM strikes on Kiev, not certain if this is aimed at the coming Trump administration or signs that the Russian economy is close to imploding. Or both.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Desertion is starving the Ukrainian army of desperately needed manpower and crippling its battle plans at a crucial time in its war with Russia, which could put Kyiv at a clear disadvantage in future ceasefire talks.

Facing every imaginable shortage, tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, tired and bereft, have walked away from combat and front-line positions to slide into anonymity, according to soldiers, lawyers and Ukrainian officials. Entire units have abandoned their posts, leaving defensive lines vulnerable and accelerating territorial losses, according to military commanders and soldiers.
Imagine refusing to fight for freedom, democracy, and everything good in the world.
