Probably the best city built or extended in the world since WW2 is Curitaba in Brasil. This has been built on a finger development basis. The fingers spread out from the centre with a transport link in the centre. Each finger is about a twenty minute walk wide and there are green spaces between the fingers so everybody is only a maximum ten minute walk from transportation or green leisure spaces. Shops have been similarly spaced and there are circumferential transport links around the city as well.
This is a complete contrast to The Line which is neither liveable nor sustainable.

Yes it’s crazy but it seems it’s going to be a ‘statement’ build.
I’ve never understood the cries against 15 minute neighbourhoods. I moved to my home in Shrewsbury specifically to be in easy walking distance of everything I need.
The linear city might look dramatic in satellite pics?
But:-
It’s a ‘build to boast’ project and is pretty likely to be uninhabited once it’s done.

"It's still ridiculous."
Which is a pity, but here we are.
