Totally agree. I just fear it's too late for a settlement now, the show will go on.

Given that they are still advancing and the Russian defence is all over the place? Yes, obviously. Russia does not have the (willing and capable) manpower to defend its entire front line. That is the whole point. Before this "incursion" almost everybody believed that Russia didn't need to defend the northern half of its border with Ukraine, because Ukraine was "not allowed" to attack Russia inside its own territory. Ukraine just called that bluff, bigtime. That changes the whole dynamic of the war, because now Russia has to defend its entire border.

Ukraine claims to have used a USA made glide bomb in its attack on Kursk. Not sure if this is the first time, but I am sure they where very happy to have that particular technology available.

The dynamic is exactly the same, that is, it's Ukraine with the manpower issues. You seem to be suggesting that to defend their redoubt in Kursk they can invade in other places? You do realise then they'd have to take forces from other parts of the frontline. Which would subsequently colapse.

For their Kursk PR job they had to redeploy a while bunch of their BEST forces - which are now being attrited at and increased rate, as they are on the offensive. Now they are wondering what the hell they're doing there as they get picked off by the willing and able spare Russian forces.

Using you best forces to take weakly defended open territory is a far better option than going up against deeply mined and entrenched front lines. The defensive lines on the border in Kursk were swept away in one day, and there were no regular Russian troops in the area to mount a defence in the first few days. Even now, Putin is only commiting low grade conscript units and some regular units from the quieter parts of the southern front in Ukraine, whereas Ukraine has all but cut off another 700sqkm of Russian territory to the west by blowing the river bridges. The remaining Russian troops in that area will make easy pickings for Ukraine and will need to either retreat leaving a lot of hardware behind, or surrender.

Russian media is now reporting it will take some time to recapture the areas, and that will give Ukraine plenty of time to build and extend defensive lines and rotate out the best quality troops to be used in other operations. The RUssian tactic of human wave attacks is finally coming home to the Russian people that the loss of life is just not worth the territorial gains and losses.

Hello invalid, do you support Russia in this conflict or do you just see things differently? Also, and my apologies for being direct here, but are you Russian?

First confused reports of Ukrainian attacks on two Belgorod border posts, by 2 or 300 troops each. Is this just a border raid or a start of the second Ukrainian front into the Russian border regions, after the success of the first? The element of surprise SHOULD be lower, and the risks higher, but that would make success even more painful for Putin to survive.

Hard man dictactorships look to have indestructable control over theie people until the day that they dont.

We're seeing now a total collapse of the Ukrainian lines on the Pokrovsk front. Quite increíble stuff. Their Kursk dalliance has also, already, stalled.

invalid, why can't/won't you answer the very reasonable questions posed by mr brightside ?
Everyone here just sees your postings as those of a Russian troll, so don't put much weight on them...
If you were a bit more up-front, we might take your postings more seriously and maybe get a more rounded view of the situation...

The first few weeks of the 'Special Military Operation' were 'incredible stuff'...
Since then, it's been a 2 year meat grinder with small gains/losses either way, sadly very reminiscent of WW1...

Russia is current rapidly taking whole towns intact. Why? Because the Ukrainians have already abandoned them, or there's no one left to defend them. That's not been seen since the first few weeks of the SMO.

I'm a Russian troll? What does that make the rest of you? At least, i'm aware of the whole conflict - It astonishes me that UE was seemingly unaware if the entire Russian Dobas offensive only a week ago. Maybe, the differences is, that I actually follow the conflict via many different sources. Not just following the ridiculous Western propaganda.

The 'gamechanging' F-16s are already performing well btw. One 'crash' and a confirmed pilot 200.
