Oil is reported to be found in the Golan Heights, part of Syria currently occupied by Israel.

It will end in tears.

With any luck it'll turn out to be nothing.

the volume of resources and to what extent they may be obtainable has not yet been determined, and that the resources do not constitute proven, probable, or even possible reserves at this point.

There are plenty of other reasons for Israel to be interested in the Golan Heights; very fertile land, good climate, great for growing fruit trees.

Too bad they're building houses all over it.
