Active projects needed for Peak Oil Awareness Campaign

Post by PeakMatters »

I am planning to cycle from Manchester to Bilbao, Spain in the summer. I am hoping to use this to stop off at active projects along the way to promote what they are doing and the issue of Peak Oil.

Does anyone have any suggestions for intiatives I can visit?

Are you planning to take a particular route, or are you going to let the projects you visit dictate your route? (Just curious, I don't have any suggestions.)

We will be starting the build of our eco hamlet next spring in Newbury, planners allowing. If you're crossing the Channel from Southampton we're on your way.

My route

Post by PeakMatters »

I am planning to from Manchester to Portsmouth via my hometown of Oswestry, Shropshire.

Then from Portsmouth to Le Harve, down the west coast of France to Bilbao.

The route is not fixed but is about the shortest it could be. I am however willing to do detours or change the route altogether for the right projects (what ever they are!)

Thanks Ken, Newbury sounds perfect. Please keep me up to date with its progress.

There was a chap in Surrey who was going to cycle to Copenhagen (via publicity) last year. He didn't in the end because it was organised at too short notice. He did talk about doing something like that in the future though. Would you like me to put you in contact with him?

What a shame, seemed quite promising, this human species.

Are they a secret? We can't have people living in sustainable homes!
