Carmakers cannot commit to the event at a time when they face "unprecedented challenges", said Paul Everitt, chief executive of the industry body SMMT.

British 2010 motor show cancelled
Well, no big loss there, as would be if 2010's appendectomies got cancelled. All modern cars look pretty much the same to me anyway, all designed by Mr. Blobby. 40 years ago a Citroen looked like a Citroen and Riley looked like a Riley. Tell 'em apart a mile off. Today I have to look at the badge.

I don't even recognise most of the badges. I used to be into cars at one time, and could recognise almost anything. Now I don't have a clue what most of them are. About the only thing I recognise are Fiat Ducato vans, because I live in one! Great isn't itskeptik wrote:Today I have to look at the badge.

Only 28%? They should think themselves lucky. The UK motor industry is suffering its worst downturn in decades, with car registrations in the UK down by 28 per cent on a year ago.

The cashing in of SSIAs in the last two or three years means a large number of the car-driving population of Ireland has a '07 or '08 vehicle. These should easily last for around 10 years or more, giving people plenty of time to save for 2017 model.SILVERHARP2 wrote:new car sales are down about 60/70% here , cant say I'm crying except the thieving gov will have to find somewhere else to screw the taxes from , civil servents have lifestyes to maintain dont you knowemordnilap wrote:Only 28%? Put away €30 a week from now on = €14,000 plus interest in 2017.
If you have got cash and are looking for a new motor, I'd advise waiting till around August-December 2009. There'll be some bargains to be had as dealers will be absolutely desperate to sell.

The latest addition to the Spanish roads is a hulking great black (haven't seen any other colour!) Shanghai Auto built SUV, badged 'SsangYong' - are these also available in the UK?JohnB wrote:I don't even recognise most of the badges.skeptik wrote:Today I have to look at the badge.

They're sponsoring the Caravan Club Sites Directory this year, so I'll see pictures of them every time I move on. Still wouldn't recognise one if I saw it on the road thoughskeptik wrote:The latest addition to the Spanish roads is a hulking great black (haven't seen any other colour!)
