A LIVE debate in Lewes will discuss the issue of the world's dwindling oil resources.
Peak Oil: Myth or Reality? will be held at the Lewes All Saints Centre on September 4.
The event has been organised by the Lewes-based Changing Times organisation.
Peak oil is the concept that the world's oil resources are about to decline and will throw western civilisation into chaos.
Andy Thomas, of Changing Times, said: 'There is a lot of fear-bound confusion about the true issues around peak oil, and so we have invited two speakers to give an airing to both sides of the debate.
'Mike Grenville, a leading Sussex environmental campaigner, will put the case for the reality of peak oil. On the other side of the argument, Ian R Crane is an ex-oilfield executive who believes that the case for peak oil is unproven and that its ongoing promotion in the media is being used as a tool of control.
'The audience will be given the chance to participate in discussion, so that they can make up their own minds!'
