Attention anybody in Reading/Berkshire

Post by WolfattheDoor »

Hi All

I feel it's about time we got together and started a local group in the Reading and Berkshire area. There's no local co-ordinator but I'm prepared to act as one to get things started.

If you're interested, send me an email with any relevant information about yourself. If we get enough people, we can arrange to get together.

Send emails to local@wolfatthedoor.org.uk or the private message button below.

I don't live in Reading but I'm going to uni there. A load of us from my course will be at the energy debate Chris has mentioned. If you want to start a Reading group I can probably get some of the guys to join. Some of our lecturers might be interested too.

It was good to finally meet you, Paul. We were all a bit short of time after the event, though.

I thought Peter Fraenkel's presentation was excellent, particularly his "energy per capita gap" graph that seemed to superimpose population on oil+gas production.

Did we have another thread about this?

Anyway - A video was taken of the debate. This is just becoming available on the IEE website; http://www.iee.tv/ under power. Worth watching just to laugh at the BP guy!

Hi!

I'm doing an MSC Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies at CAT in Wales and there are two other guys in the Newbury area doing the same course. Two of us work in Building Design. Tother is a full time student.

We all meet up regularly in a south east area group with people from Brighton, Portsmouth, Alton and Winchester, about 12 in all. We were looking for a local group and found one at the Greendrinks.org website. It was supposed to meet at RISC (Global Cafe) in London Street in Reading but no one arrived.

We would meet you. Perhaps we could kickstart the Greendrinks group. Give me a ring on 01635 45535.

I'd be interested in a friendly Berkshire meeting, now that I live here. I'm stupidly busy in school term-time, but a weekend meeting in Reading isn't out of the question.

I don't know the town well enough to suggest a venue, but if it was on the first or third Saturday in any given month then the farmer's market would be on! (8.30-12, Great Knolly's Street) That would make an afternoon thing more likely than an evening one, but hey. It's just a suggestion.

Any thoughts, Berkers?

I live in Wokingham permanently. Can't get out in the very near future (have come down with swine flu and my eleectric wheelchair has a flat tyre and our budget has taken a major knock so getting the tyre fixed will probably be another month), but I'm happy to meet up with people in Reading!
