Are you going to change your life for the ?greener??
I'm James, from Keo Films. We are a production company who makes documentaries for BBC and Channel 4.
We are developing a documentary series for BBC2 about families and couples who are changing their lives completely by ?going green?. This could mean building a dream eco house, converting your current home, or starting an eco business.
The aim of the series is to show just how much potential there is in eco business and homebuilding, through the stories of real people making big changes to their lives.
If this is you, then I would really love to talk to you. Please call me on 0207 490 8602 or email james@keofilms.com.
At this early stage we are trying to talk to as many people as possible, to get a sense of your experiences and how you?re feeling about your green future. So please do get in touch even if you?re just a little bit curious! It goes without saying that all conversations are in confidence and will not oblige you to take part in the documentary.
Nice one,
I wonder if he'd be interested in a Transition Town at all... I've emailed Rob Hopkins as he sent out an update today with an item asking about film-makers!
The idea has been refined slightly. The series now focuses on several individual families, each doing their own thing to go green. We will aim to focus on some sort of build / construction process for each family:
eco-fitting house (completely!), building a "green" house, building a structure for a green business. The first two are more appealing for us as
they draw the families together, and will appeal to a broader cross-section
of the viewing public.
Very crudely, the kinds of people we looking for are as follows:
* Families or couples, rather than individuals - more interaction that way
so much more to point a camera at.
* Planning in the future, or are at the early stages of, making big changes
to the way they live. We need people to be at the early stages simply so we have something to follow - in the present tense.
* Changes should hopefully be physical - ie. Building something, renovating, converting, inventing - the bigger the better. Also would be great to have the idea that these physical changes represent an ideological shift towards green, for the people involved.
* People who haven't ALWAYS been green - so going green is a real change. That way your average viewer is more likely to see a change as possible for THEM.
* Ideally ? and I know this is a challenge ? we?re not necessarily looking
for your average greeny: middle class, white, hippy. Though obviously many people making green changes fit this description, and there?s absolutely nothing wrong with that, we feel that stereotype needs to be challenged in the media, as there?s a risk it might alienate your average brit. We are looking for people who are slightly unexpected.
* The more characterful, inspirational and interesting these people are, the
better.
* We're willing and keen to follow businesses rather than just family homes - and I see that people running businesses would have a more pertinent reason to take part - so long as the business represents a personal change for them (not just a market savvy opportunity) and involves renovation / modification people could replicate in their own homes. So the kinds of things I have in mind are people setting up eco-lodges or hotels etc as these are small family businesses with whose changes and thought shifts viewers could empathise.
A lot of information here I know. Hope this helps. If there?s a family you
can find ? or a few ? who may fit the bill it would be great to talk to
them. At this stage it?s a game of numbers so really the more likely people we speak to the better.
