As per another thread hereabouts, nicotine is not the same as neonicotinoid.

However, yes. Do you not remember several years ago having to clean off the splatted moths from the front of your card after a night-time drive? Moth numbers have suffered a catastrophic decline over the last several years and of course the whole ecosystem that relies on their pollination and role as bat-fodder must suffer the consequential damage.

A recent report from Butterfly Conservation (who, it turns out, also study moths) showed that overall moth decline has been some 40%.

I shall have to take your word for that: never having driven and never having of my own volition lived in the countryside.

However, in the evening of that one warm day we had recently, I was in the garden and I could have sworn I caught a glimpse of some bats. Could equally have been a side effect of the home-made wine, tho' :D

It looks like the German government have decided to vote in favour of the EU neonicotinoid restriction proposal next week. That leaves the UK isolated.

Or as some would have it, Europe isolated.
