The Green Deal is a bit slow in take up it would seem. To do the 25 million houses in the UK at an average rate before the 2050 deadline for the Climate Change Act of saving 80% of our fossil fuel use would require us to do 676,000 houses per year (up from the 625K when I first mooted a National Insulation Scheme three year ago). This is 56,300 per month, not the 136 quoted.

Even on a standard distribution curve this is very slow and points to a peak installation of about 3 million per year. someone is going to have to work vry hard to get this to work!!

I was vaguley interested in the green deal, but when I made some enquiries all I could find were firms that were interested in selling me a survey and not many that were interested in actually providing the product. I'm not paying out a couple of hundred quid for someone to tell me that it makes sense to install solar panels! Only then to fail the credit check and end up two hundred quid down!

Green Deal is a great idea in theory but has been really badly implemented. I imagine a lot of lobbying as energy firms saw another opportunity. I am a hot prospect for the Green Deal - I'm aware of the issues, our house needs work, I'm willing to take a long view on it. Will I get a Green Deal? Will I fÿck! There is no way I am letting one of the Big Six near any of my finances ever again.
