Financing the Future: Funding Infrastructure for Sustainable Communities
13th December 2005, London
Without infrastructure there will be no sustainable communities. It must be
delivered to a high quality, in the right places and at the right time. But
how, and by whom? Who will pay?
This conference will give you the opportunity to listen and contribute to
the ideas that are gaining ground in growth areas and elsewhere about just
how to solve this problem.
Is there a single approach, or do we need a family of alternative options,
each suitable for different circumstances?
How can we best lever in private investment and how much of this can be
'free' rather than simply loan finance?
How will the Planning Gain Supplement fit in, if at all? How will central
and local government plan their budgets strategically to support
sustainability?
How will the cash flow of development be funded, given that value increases
after the infrastructure is installed?
How to we give confidence to local communities, to developers and to
government that the vision will be delivered?
All this and more will be revealed, or at least debated, on the 13th
December!
The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) puts social justice and the environment at the heart of the debate about planning policy, housing and energy supply. We inspire government, industry and campaigners to take a fresh perspective on major issues including climate change and
regeneration. We are campaigning for:
- Decent homes in well-designed neighbourhoods;
- Communities empowered to influence the decisions that affect them; and
- A sustainable future.
