Do you remember that scam artist who retired to a country mansion ... and then one day he answered his door ... only to meet Mr Shotgun?
After about two days the police abandoned their enquiries as "..he had so many enemies we don't know where to start"
Paraphrase: "Thanks to whoever did this. Don't worry, we are not going to try too hard to find you. The weasel deserved it."
