Compressor type type fridges and freezers have been available for decades, but until recently were very expensive, often approaching £500.

They are far more efficient than either Peltier or absorption fridges and can be run off vehicle batteries or a modest sized RE system.

Several fleabay sellers now offer small portable compressor fridges for about £150 which is rather more affordable. Most are called "fridge freezers" but note that they have only ONE internal compartment, this may be used as a fridge OR a freezer but not both at the same time.

Most are suitable for connection to either 12 volts or 24 volts.
