Australia and New Zealand best placed to survive nuclear apocalypse, study finds
Researchers say food and energy security boosts prospects for civilisation to continue, along with Vanuatu, Iceland and Solomon Islands
It really is quite inconvenient to share the same hemisphere, indeed the same planet, with Russia and China!

I expect and the report does mention the possibility that Australia could face a nuclear attack but otherwise something called Hadley Cells prevent hemispheric mixing of dust and other atmospheric stuff to a large extent.

I read many of his books, including On The Beach, but it was 40 or 50 years ago now so I have very little recollection of them. Second hand bookshop here I come!
