Alternatives to the late Maplins & Proops?

Growing up I could always turn to Maplins for random electronics bits and to Proops for weird components such as Fresnel lenses etc.

Does anyone know of modern day equivalents who sell odd bits & bobs for home gadget makers?

There are rather limited alternatives, other than fleabay. Almost anything can be purchased on fleabay. I do not really trust them for expensive goods but should be fine for basic electronic components and other small parts.

RS components have a good selection, and no longer require trade status.

Proops do in fact still exist, but not at the original Tottenham Court road premises.https://www.proopsbrothers.com/
