Hi,
I hear that PVC 'lino' can give of vinyly chloride monomer fumes.
As I have a friend who developed kidney cancel from these fumes (in a factory), I am not keen on PVC sheet flooring.
What could I use in place of PVC sheeting?
Thanks.

MOST so called lino sold these days is simply another term for vinyl.

However real lino, made almost entirely from natural materials is still available.

The Environmental Impact of Vinyl Flooring:

VOCs are given off by the vinyl flooring, but also from the adhesive required to stick it down.
Not sure which gives the bigger VOC exposure to the householder, but I'd guess that it would be the adhesive ?

Ceramic tiles perhaps. Have all of the attributes of pvc such as being easy to mop clean and is probably ( fashion not withstanding) far longer lasting.
