Does anyone make a small, cheap, and simple amphibious vessel. Not power driven.
Basically something like an unsinkable boat hull but equipped with full sized wheels. Suitable for rescue from floods.
Tow to scene of flood by a car or van, or a horse.
At flood scene, move by hand in shallow water until water is deep enough to float it.
Sounds better than the inflatables used at present as these need about 300mm of water to float them, and casualties have to wade or be carried from the grounded boat to dry land.
A vessel with wheels could be pushed by hand, or hauled with a rope, and ill or injured victims transferred to an ambulance.
Is anything like this available ? Google only finds rather costly and complicated amphibious cars/motor boats.
A friend is considering building something, but thinks this a waste of effort if available to purchase.
Outline specification.
Double skinned unsinkable rigid boat hull NOT inflatable.
Suitable for rowing, or a small outboard engine.
Wheels with pneumatic tyres, road legal for towing.
Wheels and trailer type chassis to be permanently attached to boat hull, not demountable.
Not intended to be seagoing, but must be stable in high winds in say an urban flood disaster.

Small amphibious vessel ?

Re: Small amphibious vessel ?
It is the 'Wheels with pneumatic tyres, road legal for towing' that is adding complexities.
Most of the initial neighbour flood rescues I have seen on tv have involved kayaks. Very suitable, flat hulls, unsinkable due to displacement holes, some storage, can operate in six inches of water.
The displacement holes can also have wheels inserted into them, but these are for transport from the car to the water

As you say when the fire brigade turns up, they tend to use unsuitable inflatables with a short stick outboard. Not good for getting into knocks and crannies. Can only effectively operate in a couple of feet of water.
The rescue kayak would also slip onto a roof rack or a variety of sizes and applications could be carried on a trailer.

You could buy a broken 'project' agrocat off eBay and just not fix it?

This is not my project but that of a neighbor.
The favoured option is probably a double skined unsinkable boat hull, permanently mounted on a trailer. Great care needed to ensure stability.
