Free workshop for developing community-based energy projects

Post by DamianB »

Making it Happen - first-class training available to CAfE members

Making it Happen is a one-day course aimed at groups and individuals who want to develop community-based energy projects - anything from eradicating fuel poverty among vulnerable groups to putting up a wind turbine in a school, from making a community building more energy efficient, to building and racing solar-powered cars.

The training - which is practical, informative, inclusive and fun - is FREE to members of the CAfE network. Places are limited to 25, allowing everyone to participate fully whilst ensuring that on each course there is a range of experiences and backgrounds.

The remaining dates for Making it Happen are: Exeter (17 January 06); Newport (18 January 06); Leeds (23 January 06); Woking (25 January 06) and Belfast (02 February 06)

Anna Stobbs, CSEs lead trainer, says "the great thing about Making it Happen is that it brings together a dynamic mix of people with different experiences, skills and perspectives. We have workers from the community and voluntary sector linking up with those whose job it is to promote sustainable energy, for example in local government or energy agencies. Between them, these two groups look at what it takes to deliver successful community-based energy projects".

The feedback we receive from participants on the course is overwhelmingly positive. This comment from someone on the course in York is typical, and expresses the way in which the training helps individuals get the results they want from their work: "I found all of it useful, but especially breaking down a community project into constituent parts - it feels more achievable now."

Booking your place on the training course couldn't be easier. You can download more details and a booking form here, call the helpline (0800 512 012) or email cafe@est.org.uk

The Exeter one is full apparently; I'm going on the Woking one on 25th
