There will probably always be a market for incandescent lamps, but probably only a very small market that is not worthwhile for mass market retailers like ikea.

Compact fluorescents are still arguably the best solution for high power retrofit lamps, for example 30 watt CFL to replace 150 watt incandescent, up to 85 watt CFL to replace 300 and 500 watt incandescent.

For the sizes used in most homes LED are the way forward.
