+1

Why do you constantly bring your personal faith into discussions? Its not needed.

You have to slam me for bringing in my religion to discussion simply because I describe how I used to use my tape recorder and that happens to include church? Eh? :?

(Unless you mean the comparison to televangelists. Anyway, I'm afraid it's a big part of my life. No can do.)

I think it was George Bernard Shaw who said, "There is only one religion - but a hundred versions of it."

I don't think I 'slammed' you...really.... I just asked nicely.

Maubie & LB, that's a bit harsh. We all bring our personal beliefs into our posts, it would be hard not to. :?

Anyway back to radios and torches, the combination or wind up an PV sounds like the best idea. I'm off to do some research on them....

Maybe I was bring a bit harsh, but it does seem that almost every post references God.

I do think that is a bit excessive as PO has nothing to do with religion.

Apologies if I caused offensive.

Regarding wind-up lights, I am a big fan and have about 4 at home. They are safer than candles in the event of brownouts and more sustainable.

Beria, you are a very silly person.

No worries.

As I say, it's a big part of my life, and the core of my personal philosophy, worldview, ethics, and what have you. That affects how I see things, including peak oil. I can try and not mention it where it isn't necessary, if you prefer.

I have one lantern and the beeping thing barely works for more than about a minute. Seems to be starting to work better since I made sure of giving it a good few minutes wind first, but they do take a *lot* of wnding.

I also have, or had, a couple of torches which work better, and a light on the radio.

Candles do have a tendancy to burn down and that's it, all gone...

...unless you keep bees and make your own with the wax? (I suppose you might use tallow but I hear that's rather messier and smokier?)

Electric lights on t'other hand can last as long as the batteries and LEDs last, though I suppose new candles can be made more easily.

You're just as silly.

Horses die, so obviously cars are more sustainable.

I didn't realise cars could reproduce. Are they hermaphrodites, or do you get male and female ones?
