What changes can we make to our lives to deal with the economic and energy crises ahead? Have you already started making preparations? Got tips to share?

I didn't say that I didn't have the time, what I meant was that an office job doesn't require you to do physical work.

I also have an allotment, gardening, whilst a healthy activity is not enough to keep you fit.

I have for the last three weeks been cycling over 100 miles a week. However since my second daughter was born I have put on weight. I need to loose two stone. I'm now eating sensibly (the kids leftovers now go in the chickens rather than in me), and with all the exercise I am shedding weight rapidly. General work on the land (digging, hoeing, scything, raking) keeps my upper body strong. The desk job makes it very easy to put on weight, especially as you pass 35 yrs of age.... the boredom sets in and the free biscuits call ever louder. Kids don't help, as when they are little they curtail your exercise. Even an hour long walk is tricky. When they are older the wife can be left alone with them. The first year or two you need to stay close or risk divorce due to a feeling of abandonment.

I'm 41 and in the best shape of my life.
I've been learning boxing, ju-jitsu, israel martial arts and knife fighting for the past two years. I can fight stand up or on the ground for ten minutes straight.

But no, I've done the research instead of just swallowed what I read on dieoff.org. In additin to doing the research I've worked for an oil company and gone to see places that contradict dieoff and seen with my own eyes. Anyway I digress:

I went and read some of your posts and I'm curious to see why it is that you're in my face since it doesn't look you're much of a doomer from the brief skim of your posts.

In any event, this post is even more agressive than that of Ludwig, so right back at you: If you want to claim I'm talking utter twaddle, back it up with something more than quoting dieoff mantra SHITE at me.
