I wonder if they know the difference between between "best before" and "use by"?
I often ignore "best before" dates and happily use non perishable foods a year or more past the date. several years in the case of certain dried foods.
Breakfast cereals start to taste stale after the date.
Bars of chocolate that incorporate biscuit soon taste stale, but bars containing only chocolate seem to keep almost indefinitely.
"use by" dates on perishable I take more seriously and use food preferably by the given date, and always within two days of that date.
