I'm going in just over a weeks time to Vegas and I'm rather interested in what it's going to be like there at the moment. According to news reports the whole city is struggling with WE ARE DODGY's and Hotels only half full.

Wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't get two or three hotels into a bidding war for your custom..

Enjoy, though personally Las Vegas isn't my cup of tea (never visited and have no desire to). I'm more into places like Barcelona, Paris, New York, Budapest.

I wouldn't go to Las Vegas even if I was kidnapped!

Try Seville, Spain - absolutely beautiful city - but don't go in the summer - often over 40c.

What's the attraction of getting married in vegas? A good friend of mine insisted on getting married there last year - i was a bitch and refused to fly over.

I wouldn't consider your response as being bitchy, Tess. Fair play to you, I'd say. Weddings can be the most miserable affairs, before, during and after.

I'd hate to think of the energy usage/CO2+equivalent emissions of a wedding, especially in Vegas.

Out of all these places I've visited none of them came close to the fun and enjoyment I'v had on my previous trips to "Las Vegas" and I don't see myself ever going anywere different now. People who generally hate or slate "Las Vegas" are generally people who've never been. People who've never visited tend to think "Las Vegas" = "Gambling" and "Tacky Marriages" but if you go you find out there's so much more....

I also find "Vegas" is such an easy target for "Eco-Warriors" but aye 'it's there so just enjoy it'. They are trying though by utilising the 'Hoover Dam' to create electricity and they also encourage saving fresh water, plus they have other projects on the go. I know it won't make up for the energy they use but it's a start and surely there should be one 'playground' on planet Earth

Gosh, you must be very dissatisfied with where you live to have to keep leaving it and getting so far away.

Quite the opposite, what's the saying "there's no place like home" or "it's nice to travel but it's nice to come home". I enjoy going away and I'd go lots more if funding would allow and I'd visit even more places but as my funds are rather limited I'm just going to stick to were I know i like. I would never leave the UK though as it's the best country in the World to live but not the best to holiday imo.
