Haven't been posting for a while so for those who don't know me please ignore. For those who do here's where I'm at.

Sold flat a few weeks back. Got out in the nick of time I think.
Have resigned from my city job and have 4 more weeks left till I'm free.
Starting MSc at CAT in September.
Also going to do some Royal Horticultural Society courses to compliment my Permaculture Design certificate.

Want to get into the current housing stock market when I'm finished so any ideas for small London based companies that are working on refits that I could contact for work/work experience whilst I study would be useful.

I'll also be in a better position when out of work to organise some London drinks - seems to have been lacking in my absence...

Welcome to the CAT community Newmac. Are you doing the AEES or REBE options?

Did you know that the London CAT students, past, present and future meet for drinks usually in the Roebuck Pub, SE1 at the end of the month? It is advertised on the student website, which you can join at www.aees.co.uk .

If anyone here has a technical question on energy or the environment there is a public forum on www.AEES.co.uk where you can leave a question. Mind you there are so many CAT people, not to mention all the other valuable intellects, on here now that most questions can be answered here. It's just another source of help for the future.

I'm quite amazed how many people seem to go off to do that CAT MSc. It's quite a big step after all to quit one's job or business and spend a year with no income studying.

Current housing stock, I mean not new build. With 20 odd million houses already with an expected lifespan of 1000 years and most of them in bad shape I'm happy to leave the jazzy new builds to green architects and concentrate on sorting these out.

AEES is the course I am going to do.

Thanks for the Roebucks pub info, I'm sure I'll be along in the not too distant future.

All party group - I'm afraid Tuesday nights aren't possible for me but hopefully once the next 4 weeks are up I'll be getting a lot more involved again.

In some ways maybe. I did a part time MBA which was tough, but not as psychologically difficult as giving up an income and maybe a career for a dream full of uncertainty.
