Apologise to the hot water!

A friend of mine has been with his Philipino wife for about 2 years now, and it's amazing how different the attitudes are. When he wastes hot water, she says he should apologise to the hot water for wasting it! She's quite happy slaughtering and skinning her own livestock too. I think they'll do fine...

Yes, waste is ridiculous in this country.
I consider myself to be relatively frugal but over the last few weeks since I decided to start composting everything that could possibly be composted I've seen how much waste we really do have.

I also noticed that when taking the bins out on monday night that we only had one bin three quarters full as opposed to two and a half prior to my composting binge. Of course, now I need more composting bins.

By the end of the year I think I will have so much I will be able to sell the stuff. Perhaps I will need to start feeding the soil of the forest in front of me too.

Have you tried wooden pallets for a composting bin, Fifth? Use one as a base and four for sides, sat on top. You can pack cardboard down the sides to act as insulation if you want, but we've found that the heap works just as well without. Covering the top is best but not essential.

One of those, going well, takes all the rubbish from a 1/2 acre garden, kitchen waste from four of us together with the occasional cleanings from our cattle trailer. Occasional pee and log fire ash help it along wonderfully.
