Started on this... and since I'm in 'Taff-land' ;) .... the http://www.writetothem.com/ website comes back with with not just MP's... but AM's as well (AM = Welsh Assembly Members).

Got me thinking... is there some equivalent thing setup in the Welsh Assembly comparable to APPGOPO.
Could AM's (am Scottish Parliament Members) be invited to this event as well???

Brian Jenkins, MP for Tamworth sent me a nice letter back today saying he was into environmental and energy security issues and would do his best to attend. Wahay!

(this does of course now make me the kind of person who writes letters to his MP, before you know it I'll be penning angry diatribes to the Times).

Paddy Tipping, MP for Gedling replied saying that he'd already seen Crude Awakening! He's also invited me to come and speak to him about my concerns. So I'll let you know what happens...

Paddy Tipping is the MP for Sherwood not Gedling. Vernon Coaker (MP for Gedling) hasn't replied to me other than an acknowledgement of my email. I'd be interested to know how many attend this event.

WriteToThem.com sent me an email to register if my MP had
a) Responded
b) Not Responded (either acknowledged, and said would respond later, or not even bothered to send any reply).

In my case, I did b), because Julie Morgan (well, her PA/Secretary/whatever) sent their standard "thanks for the email, Julie will look at it" response.

Good to see that the website keeps track of this.

With the comment that guy makes who runs the website (can't remember exactly which site it is, was it theoildrum? or some other) then I doubt anyone took notice.

I really understood what he was saying, "If a Politician came along and said, "Vote for me and I promise you we'll reduce and lower the economy so we will be less reliant on fossil fuels" I wouldn't vote for him, would you?" or somthing nearly on those lines. Anyway this did make perfect sense to me and opened my eyes up even wider. The best thing to do is prepare and ENJOYYYYYYYYYYYYYY what's left but let me stress PREPARE. By the way I've done the deprssed wanting to save the world part of PO, since then I've realised I can't. But a great lesson I have learned is to enjoy what's left of this wonderfull ride.

The comedian Bill Hicks put it this way:
"The world is like a ride in an amusement park and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and around and around and it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud. And it's fun - for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question; is this real? Or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, and they say, "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because... this is just a ride."
Couldn't have put it better myself.
