What Would You Do?

What would you do if you possessed irrefutable evidence the UK would descend into abject lawlessness in 7 years? How would you make the next 2556.75 days?

The question is what can you do? It is outside your personal sphere of influence. There are only so many preparations you can make if any.

With the impending PO situation for instance I know and am mentally prepared for the fact I may be poorer towards the end of my life than I am now but what can I do about it apart from accept it and work towards a less energy intensive and more sustainable way of life.

If in 7 years time the UK is in a state of lawlessness then the only thing I can suggest is to learn how do defend yourself.

I take it this topic is a discussion point or a "what if" situation. You are not suggesting that you have any evidence are you?

Well apart from moving somewhere else which is a good answer but may be slightly cheating .

Id do the same thing I suggested on latoc join a group that had a good chance of coming through in one piece and forming a army or militia .

if the national structure falls apart people will turn to gangs or militia, political or religious are the most common types of militia

Id bet on the mormans they store food and survival equipment have lots of ex military people lots of self belief have a command structure that could turn into a very effective military structure overnight .

They also have church farms the members pay a tenth of their income to the church, many of them do missions for two years that they pay for themselves this shows some dedication .

Can you think of any other religious or political groups in the uk where the people are prepared for peak oil and have years of stored food and part of the doctrine involves getting ready for social breakdown that have simular numbers .

I used to be a morman and am now a atheist but if times turned bad Id like to have mormans around me ,in bad times they would do very well .

What prompted my question is as I studied for my bio class last night, an incisive procession of PPO thoughts percolated to my awareness in between learning about plant ovaries and pollen tubes: "What if 7 years from now I harken back to this night of studying and see it as the night I could have been both benefactor and beneficiary by inaugurating a personal, willfull vanguard? What if this very thought is a midnight call from the governor, as it were?"

So I decided to ask others in the world what they would do.

Thanks for writing

Sorry. At times, I see pleasantries as banalities given the elephantine issue with which we presently grapple. That said, I am a US resident living in the southwest's desert attending college. Still gets up to 95 degrees F here.

I do not know how many US posters/perusers there are here. But I will tell you straightaway as I look around what I see is a huge constellation of people sucking on the nipple of an urban agenda whose only trajectory leads to a terminal, inevitable ending.

EVERYONE knows on an almost imperceptible level something is not right. YOu can see it on faces belonging to folks long been deceived by the machine's artifice, an expedient sleight of hand, draconian incrementalism insidiously garroting their throats.

But my mom and dad still bathe in the red, white, and blue of Bill OReilly's daily nonsense.

Phone the police, hand over the irrefutable evidence, and ask them to stop it.

I teach biology ..... but can't see how ovules and pollen could possibly lead to a teaching line on PO! With bacterial growth curves followed by decline due to resource depletion/toxic waste build up etc, & I can work a message into the lesson .... but pollen????

Thanks for the introduction! As I say welcome aboard. Good to have a man on the ground state side  Yes, I can imagine things are getting pretty odd there at the moment. I can't see people really accepting high gasoline prices too easily. How's the weak dollar going down? Are people starting to tire of the Bush administration? Can they see how unsustainable their world politics are? Is there much of an awareness of the Iran issue at the moment?

Oh dear, that guy is poisonous. They don't read Anne Coulter too do they?

I suspect that anyone who buys into that kind of philosophy is going to have a long, painful journey ahead.

Muddle along for the next 6.9 years then hide until the fuss died down.

Breathe - breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to care.

Long you live, and high you fly
And smiles you give, and tears you cry
And all you touch, and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.
