Any other nurses out there?

I'm an experienced nurse with a variety of qualifications under my belt, yet I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find (NHS) work at present.

The government states money is tight, but my friend (who is not PO aware, though I have tried) believes there are plently of funds but the government wants to give the impression of scarcity in order to drive down paydeals/ conditions in order to better weather a coming economic crisis.

This makes a bit more sense in the context of PO.

Is this happening in other public sector industries or are we just being paranoid?

Maybe they've just noticed that GP have had a 30% pay rise for not working on Sundays (alledgedly).

"They" are saying that both the hospitals near me, Huntingon and Bedford are going to have to shut because of lack of funds (despite the fact that Huntingdon has just had a major new wing built  ). Of course, there is massive local objection, should or when the closures take place we patients will all have to travel to Luton, Northampton or Cambridge - I can hear the sirens now! There is a lack of funds so they local authorities can't balance the books (or so it seems).

What happens next? Tax increases, campaigns, funds being poured into a new keep healthy campaign (more civil servant costs) cheap foreign nurses; the list of maybes and short term solutions is endless.......
