Energy Beyond Oil updates

Post by mobbsey »

Hi all,

Just to let you know that I've just updated the 'News' and 'Library' sections of the Energy Beyond Oil web site with three weeks worth of stories.

http://www.fraw.org.uk/ebo/

Some significant events:

# European Commission have just launched a green paper/public consultation on a new European energy efficiency strategy.

# Conversely, the UK government has scrapped its targets for energy efficiency in new and existing homes.

# UK is burning more coal because gas has become so expensive.

# Exxon says that renewables will never provide as much energy as fossil fuels (wow, not exactly rockert science!)

# Britains first major LNG terminal (since the 60s) has just opened in the Thames Estuary (two more, in Milford Haven, follow next year)

# US Senators are starting an official 'persecution campaign' against leading climate scientists (it's not stated in the news reviews, but this is a right-wing inspired/corporate-centric campaign, in advance of the IPPCs new research that comes out next year, in order to discredit those involved).

# If you think the weather's whacky here, it's worse around the rest of Europe

# A new DEFRA report has some really interesting information on 'food miles'
