Here's a very clear reminder as to what PowerSwitch is all about.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools - Douglas Adams.

Straight talk.

Was helping Fils with his Chemistry revision yestere'en. As well as coming up with the natty mnemonic "By Odin! Don't Know Nothing Productive, Luv" for the products of refining crude oil, we also discussed what someone in class had been saying about how long supplies would last. They were saying, for a l-o-n-g time, I explained why that wasn't really true/relevant...

It does depend upon what you use them for of course. What a world it would be if they were sensibly used. Coming to work in freezing fog this morning, the roads were chock-a-block with single occupancy vehicles, much more so than usual. How things will change...

I called at a small supermarket on the way to work and noted a woman in pyjamas and track suit top; she'd left her car engine running of course to get her lump of dismembered animal or whatever and drove back to her house, which was just round the corner, barely 250 metres.  Still, who would walk half a kilometre in their pyjamas?

No, only in discussions at Chateau Renewable. The default compaorison unit is a human lifetime. Thus, the people were implying that oil flow rates would not decrease noticeably within their lifetime. Hah! :D
