Want to ruin your day? Watch this episode of
The Bottom Line.
If in a hurry, move to the 7 minute mark.

(At the 9 minute mark I think he mumbles 15% - not 50% - price rises expected)
Note also what he says about food buffer stocks now being down to under a week.

It was good to see though that the presenter kept smiling. Ah the joys of televising a radio show.
Interesting item ... and very eye opening. I particullarly liked the re-cycling of card and paper segment. It just goes to show that the whole system is screwed (for want of a better word). His description highlighted the energy requirements of the process - note he was quite brief when mentioning chemicals. Anyone know what they are? Bleach and stuff I suppose.
I reckon the total energy requirements from collection to re-distribution must be astronomical.
mmmm.

I couldn't make out if he says 15% or 50% - but if you put the subtitles on it says 50%!

He says "almost 50%". He links ex-farm price rises to the 50% cereal price increase, which is not showing in the food retail prices.

Yes, that's his point.
