It seems that large numbers of young people are getting long lasting symptoms from covid-19 infections similar to ME.
“If I had known that I’d be this ill, I would have taken everything a lot more seriously back in March, Russell said. “But all that we heard back then was that if you were infected and you were a young person, you’d most likely not have any symptoms at all. Or you’d be ill for a couple of weeks and that would be it.
“When people refuse to wear masks or to even obey the most basic of social distance rules, it’s very, very frustrating, Russell said. “I just want to shake them and say ‘I’ve been living with this for six months’.

Absolute horseshit Ken Neal.
There is not a single shred of empirical evidence in that article to back its bollocks up.
You are now reduced to posting propaganda pieces published by one of the establishment's house papers.
You know full well there is no large scale evidence of long term serious complications in young people. You know this. So, you are deliberately pushing this shite in that knowledge.
What's your game Ken Neil? Are you now so psychologically invested in the fact you swallowed this horseshit early on that you will now deliberately propagate baseless propaganda rather than having to face the fact you have been conned?

It is no surprise that occasionally, you don't bounce back from illnesses immidiately.kenneal - lagger wrote:It seems that large numbers of young people are getting long lasting symptoms from covid-19 infections similar to ME.

I quote this website from the British Lung Foundation talking about pneumonia
https://www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/ ... a/recovery
So in the case of pneumonia, they expect recovery to normally take 3 or more months...1 week - your fever should be gone
4 weeks - your chest will feel better and you’ll produce less mucus
6 weeks - you’ll cough less and find it easier to breathe
3 months - most of your symptoms should be gone, though you may still feel tired
6 months - you should feel back to normal
Of course pneumonia kills tens of thousands every year in the UK so we all remember the great pneumonia lockdown a few years ago....oh wait.

And Spiked and the other "information" sites that you quote aren't at all pushing an agenda that you have swallowed hook, line and sinker, Steve?Little John wrote:

Having re-read the article, where does it say he suffered no symptoms? It says his illness lasted two weeks but not that he had no symptoms.kenneal - lagger wrote:The sufferer, in this case, had no symptoms during his covid19 infection, so no lung problems.
In anycase the article is misleading. The headline figure of 600,000 people affected by 'long COVID' it seems comes from the quoted 12% still feeling effects after 30 days. 30 days is not long term by any stretch of the imagination.
And what were the symptoms included in the 12% and what is the breakdown? No details given. Sympoms could be anything from a few occasional aches through to heart problems.
The article quotes someone from the ME association. They give generic statements like this:
Why not give the exact number? What counts as substantial? 100, 1000, 100000 people? Surely if long covid is such a high risk there should be tens of thousands of people looking for this help. The association has seen substantial numbers of long-Covid patients turning to it for support
Every single one of these long covid articles is the same, big on emotive personal stories, short on statistics.
No one has ever said there is no risk and that some people won't suffer consequences in the medium or long but the fact remains that for the vast majority of people they suffer no or little illness or side effects.
Ha! GP's hiding in their 'castle' must be a commonplace phenomenon now.fuzzy wrote:I like this sort of anectodal evidence:

What's happening is all very strange to put it kindly.
I keep asking myself "is it me?" But a little pondering always answers "nope".
