New coronavirus in/from China

Little john must have the patience of a saint. It's a balance between inevitable damage we know vs damage that might or might not happen. Lj had presented the facts now, and the considerable damage that we know has and will happen. What we know for sure plus some reasoned inferences vs speculation.
Has it 'ripped' through society anywhere in the world with all the differing living conditions. it went from "omg, what has sweden done. It's gonna end up a wasteland", to "sweden must of had a strict lockdown after all". Lockdown has morphed from keeping hospitals from overfilling to...im not sure.
For care homes, it would've helped not placing infected people in them (care homes got paid I think), bringing infected people from them to hospital (depends on the patient perhaps), and not relying on agency staff going from home to home so much. That's probably a bigger deal than ppe and banning visitors. But I dont know; lj would have a better idea.
For lumping cc and sustainability into corona, I see no change happening. I believe some people are biasing their opinion due to this. Economic migrants are still the preferred option. Massive infrastructure projects are still being planned, and globalism is still the religion. And We've just encouraged 3 million hkers. The only good to come out from this perspective is international flights, but this is just a temporary blip Imo.
But this lock down should only be about coronavirus.
We also know the future path will be difficult. But we are allowing corona to weaken us needlessly to future shocks. Like an anorexic child. Imo.
It's up to individual people to decide where their line in the sand is, and to answer questions such as taking probably involuntary (practically speaking), inadequately tested vaccines etc. My line is getting very close.

You cheeky f***ing ****. You have no idea what I do for those in my care to keep them safe.kenneal - lagger wrote:....Then your callousness for your charges is even greater, LJ, when you know that keeping them safe is virtually impossible and you are willing to let the virus loose in the younger population.

LJ, I don't doubt that you take great care of your charges but the options that you are suggesting for the rest of us would make that work very difficult or almost impossible.
And Snail, the virus hasn't ripped through the world because most countries have locked down their populations and/or many people in those populations have kept their heads down and stayed in.

Two years ago it was a particularly bad flu season, which claimed the lives of over 60,000 in the UK, and 650,000 worldwide, and there was no political agenda to inflate those figures.
In 2020, deaths are (allegedly in the UK are 41,000, down 5k due to inaccurate recording); and around 600,000 worldwide. We know there's a political agenda this year, and the figures that have been recorded account for so many other conditions/deaths.
But two years ago, no one really knew about the bad flu season; whereas this year, our lives an world have been thrown upside down. And anyone who can't see, by now, that this engineered 'WAR ON VIRUSES' is here to stay, needs the heads examined.
HERE'S ANOTHER BIZARRE ANOMALY
The highest recorded deaths have occurred in countries most wedded to the US, neoliberalism, and are all the usual suspects of 22 who vote with US on sanctions against non-imperialist countries.
EITHER
A. The coronie is an anti imperialist virus, and loves attacking neoliberal countries, more?
B. Higher developed countries have porer defenses from 'DEADLY VIRUSES' than their poorer developed counterparts, in the global South?
OR
C. These bastions of freedom and neoliberalism whose billionaires, media, and governments are driving this baloney agenda, are cooking the f***ing books, by inflating death rates and infection rates, as a means of furthering another agenda
He must have some kind of Divine guidance, enabling him to state as "fact" the answers that are eluding the finest scientific minds on the planet.Snail wrote:Little john must have the patience of a saint.
In reality, it's all about probability - whether it's sensible to gamble the known and considerable downsides of lockdown against the unknown effects of a novel virus.
Most of the worlds governments have listened to the most expert advice available and decided that their economy was not worth the gamble. Maybe they were right, maybe not, it's still too early to tell.
Or maybe they all decided to use Covid as an excuse to create a new world order with the population cowed and enslaved under their globalist masters.
Choose one.
Don't you see, whoever wrote that is not an honest broker, is not trying to further understanding. They are pushing an agenda. There should be no discussion of Covid deaths without at least mentioning the disconnect between officially recorded deaths and excess deaths. That's the first level, stage one of any covid deaths analysis.Little John wrote:From a facebook contact

There is certainly some truth to point B though. Higher developed countries have a lot more elderly people and more commodities (there's even evidence that taking blood pressure medication is a risk factor). UK was always going to post a worse covid death rate than the global south.

You are supposedly an evidence based man, LJ, so where is the evidence for this statement?Little John wrote:From a facebook contact

Some evidence that even home made masks do work in reducing droplet propagation although others can make matters worse.

So, given that more people have been dying of the flu than of C19 for the last 7 weeks, the lower corona deaths are not because of masks or lockdown shutting down the country.
If that was true then the flu would also be prevented from spreading at the same time wouldn't it.
It's bullshit.

That's such a disappointing article, every other sentence is misleading, projecting a false narrative. In the UK, for years society has made fun of Media Studies degrees, Micky Mouse degrees etc. But a significant contribution to the dire state of the world is both the poor quality of our media and the public's inability to differentiate between honest brokers working to inform and those pushing an an agenda.

First proven case of re-infection:

It was a different strain. This suggests covid is going to be around for the long haul, and keep coming back, like flu. Vaccinations will have to done annually.
