New coronavirus in/from China

So, millions of poor people are going to sacrifice their livelihoods, their relative independence, their social relationships, their food security and their sanity - all of which is directly leading to deaths - so that some of you can retain an illusion of safety that does not exist.
Ever.
All based on a virus no more dangerous than ordinary flu for 80% of the population.
The UN has now started admitting that millions of people will die as a result of food shortages and starvation and related suffering. Western economies have been ruined and the cost of this for the poorest will have repercussions that rival the Great Depression. Are those costs worth it for you? What kind of death do you prefer?
How long do some of you jokers propose the world remain in lock-down to quell your fear of death? Or, equally as bad, that the mass of people should be subjected to endless, in perpetuity surveillance and tracking all in order to keep us "safe"?
Oh, and should I assume, considering the statistical risks, you won’t be traveling in a vehicle ever again?
This is not about a virus.
That much is now abundantly clear.

In the 1960s and 70s the unions tried to destroy the economy to bring on a glorious revolution and bring in communist government. According to LJ we now have a conspiracy of rich globalists destroying the economy and their wealth in order to do what? Bring in control of the government by the super rich, globalist elite? I thought that was what we already have.
Perhaps they want to do down the working classes? Why? Out of spite? If the working class don't have any money they can't buy what the rich are selling. We are already seeing the airlines closed down and unlikely to open up to the same extent after restrictions are lifted. The knock on from that is that Rolls Royce are making people redundant because no one will be buying planes or aero engines in the near future. Airline and aircraft manufacturer's stock values have plummeted as a result but LJ still expects us to believe that this pandemic is an ultra right wing conspiracy.
Catweazle was right when he suggested that other symptom of the virus.

No, because our government's response has been an unmitigated disaster. Plenty of other countries have demonstrated better responses.Little John wrote:So, millions of poor people are going to sacrifice their livelihoods, their relative independence, their social relationships, their food security and their sanity - all of which is directly leading to deaths - so that some of you can retain an illusion of safety that does not exist.
If you think this is about "left" and "right", that just about says it all in terms of where your head is at in terms of analysis.kenneal - lagger wrote:In the 1960s and 70s the unions tried to destroy the economy to bring on a glorious revolution and bring in communist government. The argument is only in your head.Little John wrote:I am guessing, given your last post, that you already know you have lost the argument....
I have merely been stating the fact that many of the "facts" you quote are not, in fact, proven facts.
Merely conjecture which may or may not be correct.
You might, of course, be correct. You think the gamble is worthwhile, I don't. No argument.
The links to paranoid ramblings are a different matter, when you linked to an article that mentioned David Icke alarms started ringing, they haven't stopped yet.
Are you sure that your fevered calls for end of lockdown aren't connected to a belief that this is all part of a globalist capitalist conspiracy to subjugate the working class ? The last link you posted suggests it.

I don't think it is about left and right and neither do I think it is some huge conspiracy to do down the working classes as you do. It is just a pandemic with governments, which have never seen anything on this scale before, doing what they think is what they should doing to get us all through in as near one piece as they can.Little John wrote:.........If you think this is about "left" and "right", that just about says it all in terms of where your head is at in terms of analysis.
And, yes, they have made mistakes which might have made things a little worse than they would have been but to say, or infer, that they have done anything to do down a particular part of society in just rubbish.
Meanwhile a millionaire is seeking to take the government to court to have the lockdown declared illegal. So the attack comes from the top and bottom of society.

While not a conspiracy of one part of society against another what they have done has actually done the working class a great deal of harm. The fact that it is unintended does not diminish the harm. One figure going about is that 40 percent of people making less then $40k are now unemployed.kenneal - lagger wrote: And, yes, they have made mistakes which might have made things a little worse than they would have been but to say, or infer, that they have done anything to do down a particular part of society in just rubbish.
.
The question is now that the harm is evident what will they do to correct the problem. Continued or repeated lockdowns or openings with unworkable and unnecessary restrictions would be the wrong answer in my view.

I see today that being Diabetic, and especially Type 1, is now especially dangerous, from a major statistical survey. One third of all fatalities are diabetic. Had to dig for the paper as the useless MSM didn't provide the link.

I've been working on this basis, and prepped accordingly, since a Chinese paper published back in Feb which highlighted the vulnerable populations. But despite all that early talk of vulnerable groups, diabetics still aren't 'shielded' in the UK. Probably because too many of us are needed to work, regardless. And Diabetes UK, supposedly representing us, have achieved sweet f*** all, yet still pay their Board Members far more than the paltry £100k COVID research grant they have munificiently offered up.

When you're dealing with exponential growth, the time to act is when it feels too early.

Sorry to say type 1 diabetics are only about 0.2 percent of the population and many of them are under age 19. You are not a big enough voting block to get much attention.Mean Mr Mustard II wrote:I see today that being Diabetic, and especially Type 1, is now especially dangerous, from a major statistical survey. And you aren't missing out on shielding - all they give you is a piece of paper telling you what to do. They do offer food parcels but I haven't looked into it. I did get rung by my GP's nurse and booked a repeat prescription, so that is result. They have apparently cancelled the old, crap, paper system and you now have to use voodoo, bush telegraph or something.Mean Mr Mustard II wrote:I see today that being Diabetic, and especially Type 1, is now especially dangerous, from a major statistical survey. When I search questions US stats. pop up first so T1D= 0.5% may well be the UK number. Still not enough to win any seats.Mean Mr Mustard II wrote:T1D is about 0.5% of the UK population, T2D about 6%. Probably much higher T2 in the US. The bit of paper might massively help those that have to work, luckily not me nor Mrs M (T2).
Why do you think the D2 number is higher in the US? I thought the average Brit. was carrying around as many extra stone as their US counterparts.

"Track and Trace system in place by June."
Uh-huh. So the Boris and Dominic Show have finally announced they are going to do what the South Koreans and Germans decided to do in February, but which Boris and Dominic thought was too expensive.
What a pair of useless *****.
