Somewhat disturbing,

Either we are prats or many other countries are fibbing.

I can't quite see why we would be so much worse than Italy or Spain ... unless our lockdown is very late and very weak.

We screwed up - as was discussed at length on this very thread 6-8 weeks ago. We failed to test and quarantine arrivals from hot zones and we failed to lock down early enough (in SE England mainly) to prevent community spread taking hold. Because we were a little later than others, our lockdown needed to the tighter, but it wasn't it was both later and looser. Compounded by inadequate testing amongst key workers facilitating spread during lockdown.

It wasn't inevitable for the UK - particularly England to be the worst impacted country in Europe, and possibly in 2nd place only to the US. It is a direct result of political decisions taken in February.

UK govs are obsessed with international, it is a religion, hence the brexit handringing etc. In their fantasy it is still the East india company. So Heathrow etc are still operating with no checks, the chunnel, traffic to Eire. While we have been stuck indoors, the endless stream have continued into London. Add in the skiing doctors and lawyers and you have most rancid society in Europe, with those with money caring the least about the country.

Rich globalists have multiple homes and offices across the globe.

They have no sense of being part of any country.

I hear that 500 Iranian asylum seekers have managed to make it over the Channel during April as well. As I have said before, civil service not fit for purpose. End of story.

One illegal immigrant arrives in the UK every 3 minutes according to my calculations.

So if they have a five percent COvid-19 positive rate you get one new case arriving per hour. And those will have the least ability to limit their spreading the disease even if they are aware they have been exposed and wanted to do the right thing as sneaking through the Chunnel was not the right thing to begin with.

A decent antibody test now exists and is shipping in volume

100% sensitivity, 99.6% specificity.

They could be walking around with a DayGlo T-shirt saying"I am an illegal immigrant and I have an active Covid-19 infection" and nothing would happen.
Actually, we would probably give them a rent free aprtment and some spending money.

He is making the situation look far worse than it really is, and that is bad enough. He is taking graphs showing deaths per week, putting on the new death rate which is horrific and then quoting cumulative totals to make it look even worse. You and I on this forum might see what he is talking about but the average person watching Sky won't have a clue.

Not impressed.

You've got to make up for the numbers dying from covid-19 to keep economic growth going, according to the economists! If people won't/can't buy more we need more people, exponentially for ever!!

I read that because of the lack of trade in London and the amount of people in hospitality industries being sacked and kicked out of rented flats, homeless people are finding it difficult to find enough cardboard to build shelters from.

What a shocking state of affairs.
