So, what do you want ?
A return to life exactly as it existed in January ?
-nope. We can't go back to how it was even if we wanted to
Or just for your own personal economic prosperity to be restored ? - that's quite a nasty personal dig. Clearly I want all old people to die and for the NHS to be utterly crippled.
No personal insult intended - I don't know you
Many people do think like that though - just give me back my job, the pub, and the footy, and that's a perfectly valid position

You didn't like the idea of a low carbon transition - that's fine
What do you want to see happen ?

I don't have any view as to what I want to see happen because I have no control over what will happen. I just have to prepare myself to weather whatever storms the future brings. I am not at all optimistic.

That's very fatalistic.
To a certain extent you have control over your own situation and can stack the odds in your favour.
If you can't see your career/job returning to normal anytime soon, then better to make some changes, rather than just hunkering down and hoping for better times ?

I am not fatalistic and am very familiar with the concept of locus of control. I suspected that the wheel would fall off the bus so my own decisions have been to
Live a low cost lifestyle
Have no debt
Have reserves of £, precious metals and food
Be in good health and physically fit
Be in good mental health

I control what I can control but don't see any point speculating about what I can't control. However, I do follow what is going on in the world so that hopefully I can make decisions which aid my long term survival.

A pretty sensible approach IMO and broadly how I've been tackling life in recent times. Final stage will be to transition from our current house into a more rural spot with a good garden etc. Getting it sold before TSHTF is the next challenge. We will be the classic 'motivated' seller!

HMG data as at 15th April
As of 9am on 15 April, 398,916 tests have concluded, with 15,994 tests carried out on 14 April.

313,769 people have been tested, of whom 98,476 tested positive.

As of 5pm on 14 April, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 12,868 have died.
Both a bit lower than I had expected.

If I can't even get the next day right, I've no idea how we can predict peaks and other events many days out.

Day to day numbers might vary by thirty percent or more some up some down. It is the longer five to ten day averages that show directional trends.

Give it 12 months and that money might just be enough to buy a roll of toilet paper.

Correction: enough to buy a place in the queue to be considered for a roll of toilet paper.

Ineligible? Delayed?

BTW are these payments one-offs or monthly?

A one off under the current bill but another bill is in the works and if the lock downs get extended past May first will probably come at least once more.
