What does RGR actually want.

Okay.RGR wrote: Lets not forget, depletion was happening way before Peakers discovered it. The next time someone drags out that phony discovery graph, ASK A RELEVANT QUESTION. I just demonstrated WHY.
1) Where can I find a discovery graph which is *not* phony? Perhaps one which includes the reserve growth on the year it was added, rather than backdating it to the original field.
2) Alternatively, if we're using more than we're discovering we obviously must have had a significant amount of undeveloped reserves to bring online. How much more flow rate can these realistically replace? Obviously something like the tar sands will, for all intents and purposes, not run out. But it's not going to produce 100m barrels per day either.
3) Again with flow rate, since that's the kicker... does there exist anywhere a graph of 'undeveloped potential flow rate' or 'total potential flow rate'? That surely would be a much better indication of when we will hit Peak Oil than summing discoveries of conventional reserves.

Can you show me anywhere on this forum where people have been talking about any of this?RGR wrote:Well, lets talk about what we mean by "blaming". Would you say that Big Oil hiding oil discoverys constitutes blaming? Obscene profits? Big Oil NOT developing things right now when someone thinks they should?Andy Hunt wrote:
I don't think I recall a single poster on Powerswitch ever blaming the oil industry for peak oil.
Sounds like a very large strawman to me.
Back in the 70's it was shutting in wells helping to jack up prices, nowadays it is striking me more as a vast corporate, money grubbing conspiracy angle more than anything else.
You seem to be arguing against demons which exist only in your own head RGR.

Yeah it's unfortunately typical of RGR that he feels the need to constantly attack and mock all of us when the people holding the views he hates are in a very tiny minority on this forum, if they're even present at all.Andy Hunt wrote:Can you show me anywhere on this forum where people have been talking about any of this?RGR wrote:Well, lets talk about what we mean by "blaming". Maybe because an oil company's share price is to some extent a function of its reserves? When you gain access to a new giant field, your market cap goes up, current oil price notwithstanding.RGR wrote:When we already have half a century of future production identified, what makes you think my industry has any desire to rush out and collect some MORE?
RGR and Disinformation
That reminds me of this...Tess wrote:Yeah it's unfortunately typical of RGR that he feels the need to constantly attack and mock all of us when the people holding the views he hates are in a very tiny minority on this forum, if they're even present at all.
Twenty-Five Rules of Disinformation
4. Use a straw man. Find or create a seeming element of your opponent's argument which you can easily knock down to make yourself look good and the opponent to look bad. Either make up an issue you may safely imply exists based on your interpretation of the opponent/opponent arguments/situation, or select the weakest aspect of the weakest charges. Amplify their significance and destroy them in a way which appears to debunk all the charges, real and fabricated alike, while actually avoiding discussion of the real issues.

Not at all. Just give us a bit more credit, that's all.RGR wrote:Obscene profits I could find, some basic conspiracy angles I could find, but they were primarily related to government rather than oil companies. So perhaps I should just shut up now?
