The start of the UK peak of the coronavirus epidemic is expected within the next fortnight, England’s deputy chief medical officer has said.
Dr Jenny Harries defended the Government’s decision to delay closing schools and the introduction of other stringent tactics, saying experts are assessing new cases on an hourly basis to achieve a “balanced response.

That's faster than my calcs suggest ... so perhaps their released data is more out of date and.or less accurate than I have surmised?Mean Mr Mustard II wrote:Graun live feed -

My wife made in interesting point. It takes several days, maybe a week between an individual's contact with the virus and their test results coming back positive. A few asymptomatic days, a couple days getting sick, a call to 111, another day or two for the test to be carried out, another day before it's actually reported . A long time.
So those 1000+ daily cases we'll be reporting next week are all being infected today.

Depends what the hell is meant by 'start of the peak'. That's more utter bollocks, worthy of that generator I just found.
Start of Peak Oil was 1853, right?
Edit - 1863... I'm gonna be drummed out of PS for that one...

Been saying that for a few days on here. The ten times, 8.3 chatter has been all about that - it's a lagging indicator.clv101 wrote:My wife made in interesting point. HMG say that fake news via Twitter is a problem.
I suspected that the hospital reports mentioned earlier were fake, so I did a search.
Found this:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/heal ... 84356.html
It seems to confirm the twitter stories.
Note however the fact that young people are affected, and also that kidney machines etc are also required.
The story gets better every minute.

Mean Mr Mustard II wrote:The UK stats are going to be very skewed by asymptomatic, then symptomatic untested, then delay to being tested - sometimes several days of quarantine / test result delay, and finally, deliberate 24hr public reporting delay. Given the rapid doubling time, that would suggest that there may be not just 11 in East of England today, for example. It's a lagging indicator - implying possibly ten times that, and many of them being out and about right now. Likely in the more affluent population, where overseas travel is more common. That would suggest Cambridge is more of a risk than Peterborough, for example.

This is huge - the banking scum don't want defaults to trigger CDS derivative calls. It's not like the gov gives a rats ass for peasants

A long shot, but is anyone considering Resveratrol ?Initiation wrote:I previously read some medical articles about caffeine having a similar effect on opening up the lungs to more common drugs such as theophylline. If you search online you can find various articles. Now whether that would help in the event of pneumonia not sure. I presume the best way to take it would be via combined paracetamol and caffeine tablets.Vortex2 wrote:My key factors:stumuz1 wrote:As there is a real risk of this happening, we will all know someone who is infected and someone who maybe will need respiratory help.
Taking as an axiom that the NHS will be full, is there a DIY remedy, medicine, relieve that we can make, acquire, use to help respiratory difficulty?
Mrs Stumuz has had a steamer when she has had a cold or flu in the past. It just needs hot water and breathe in the steam.
Any other remedies come to mind?
Not sure about steamers ... check carefully on that before using!
* Vitamin D daily ... 25ug ... NOT more.
* Thermometer to detect fever, and to determine when you start taking meds. (I have bought an expensive non-contact thermometer to make checking simpler, and also to allow checking of visitors)
* Meds to be paracetamol & ibuprofen interleaved, above a trigger temperature.
* O2 sensor used on finger : to detect poor blood O2 levels, so 999 can be called.
* I would buy an O2 enricher ... but I can't afford one.
* Know EXACTLY where to drive a dying family member to if the wotsit hits the fan. You don't want to rush to a closed hospital! (Have a 'hospital bag' ready to go. Also ensure you all write wills)
Available at Health Food places...
Resveratrol enhances the functionality and improves the regeneration of mesenchymal stem cell aggregates:

Yep. I've brought forward my lock-down date to today.clv101 wrote:My wife made in interesting point. I've had a talk with the wife and we agree that 100% lock-down simply isn't going to happen ... but we will do our best.
I am now only going into my office if I have a client, and syaty only for the meeting. As I enter I spray the door handles, handrails etc with bug killer.
My office smells like a Dettol store.
