Same here. I am sitting in the car whilst she is in church. Usually I go to Costas.PS_RalphW wrote:I only work 1 day a week, at a school. I could lose that job without long term impact on my finances, if schools are not shut down first anyway. My elder daughter has offered to stay away from home to avoid infecting us. My younger daughter is a recluse and will happily stay home once schools are shut. My main problem with lock down is getting my wife to accept it.

I run an accommodation business, camping and self catering. No new bookings for a week and it was sparse before then. Not in a position to start refunding, whether anyone likes it or not it'll be credited to dates 2021.
As far as I am concerned that's it, no more income for the forseeable. I don't expect anyone to turn up, be surprised if they do.
Son getting married in June, big do, marquee - here on site. Discussion with him coming up I think.
All spending beyond essentials stopped.
Interesting times coming up.

You MIGHT possibly be able to get bookings from people wanting to get away from big cities and the risk of infection therein.
Or from people determined to have a holiday but wishing to avoid the costa del corona, and air travel thereto.
Obviously be very cautious regarding physical contact with such persons.
Regarding the wedding, I would be inclined to let it go ahead, subject to a limited guest list and strict hygiene precautions.

Useful virus case data source
This govt web page gives the latest data as a total and also broken down by region.
As the numbers increase this will show which areas to avoid.

3000 deaths would indicate they have been very successful in slowing down the spread , 100,000+ would seem to indicate they have been very successful in keeping a lid on the whole affair with regards to verifiable information getting out. Either way they almost deserve praise for their efficiency. I rather suspect the figure is a tad higher than the 3000 but i still take mentions of 150,000 as dubious. Time will tell i suppose.Vortex2 wrote:The Chinese data is very suspect. I have heard mentions of 100k to 150k deaths. Also of a 'scale factor' of 40+ based on various indirect indicators .. which again suggests 100k+ deaths.UndercoverElephant wrote:Lurkalot wrote:That's part of the thing that's confusing me if i'm honest. Either that 3000 figure is close to the correct number or china has seriously massaged the numbers and they have a death toll in the tens if not hundreds of thousands and have managed to succesfully cover it up.
We were also discussing the aspect of home deliveries versus stocking up for the fortnight. We very rarely do home delivery , only when it's offered for free, and were wondering about the delivery drivers spreading the disease and would there even be enough capacity to supply everyone who hasn't been " selfish" and brought a shed load of food .
