Got about 1000 acres of Greenham Common next door but my cows are off limits! Camp fires on my land only. Bylaws prevent them on the common.mobbsey wrote:Depending on what resources are available I can run a few workshops. If it's a little rural round-a-bouts I could also take people off on food forages, etc. and we could do some rough campfire cooking.
There's one about half to three quarters of a mile away, which is quite good, or we've got a spare double bedroom and a five bed bunk room for those who don't like tents. (negotiable depending on catering, PM me)Any B&B within walking distance?
Not many on our land; the foxes have finished most of them off. There is a plague on the common but can't use guns up there - bylaws.Got any rabbits?

I could maybe rig my solar soundsystem in the marquee as a PA system, will have a think about how I could get a mic in the system.clv101 wrote:PeakSpeak is typically around 50-70 people I think.kenneal wrote:We've got a few very good micro breweries locally so I could get some in.

is one is one and hopefully the Flowerpots in Cherington is brewing again
Would you need a hall for Peakspeak or would a marquee be OK? I can arrange for either if required. If Peakspeak was included, how many people would that be?
Then it can be disco time afterwards!

If you want to take in Peakspeak as well, how about either 26th July or 2nd August. That would be about the same time as Peakspeak last year. I would prefer 2nd August as my wife is away for two weeks until 22nd July but could do either.Sally wrote:............ Any idea a date yet?

Good point - I think we need to find ourselves a nice 4-star hotel. I'm sure there's some space left on one of these credit cards.Miss Madam wrote:I thought it was us young uns who were spoilt and unable to cope with slumming it?Vortex wrote:Not keen on tents. Done that. Got the T-shirt.

At least I have done camping, climbing, sailing, gliding and all that crap.Miss Madam wrote:I thought it was us young uns who were spoilt and unable to cope with slumming it?Vortex wrote:Not keen on tents. Done that. Got the T-shirt.

I can now say that I prefer a 4-star hotel or mobile equivalent.
Any recreational location needs to be warm and provided with chrome & glass, gin & tonic ... and if mobile it needs to have a throbbing fossil fuel engine!
Today's young'uns - present company excepted - want to go STRAIGHT to the 4-star hotel!
This is what I call 'roughing it' ...
