I think I was after something less confrontational at the time? Something more hopefull, hence the dove thing.
I think it was Patrick Whitefield who said "Permaculture is simply revolution dressed up as gardening..." Obviously a bit of a flipant comment, but in the context of the conversation at the time it made alot of sense. I mean self sufficiency is the ultimate revolution really isn't it? If we don't spend money, or earn it, then the goverment can't tax us, and loose power over us. We only really give goverment power by spending the pound. The more dependent we become on others to provide our necessesities in life for us (Supermarkets, heating oil and gas providers etc) the more we rely on the state owned Bank of England's currency. It is the use of this currency that we are taxed on (VAT) and by. It was this expression that gardening and degrees of self sufficiency are the ultimate form of revolution that the old avatar so brilliantly expressed.
