Hmm. At the end of the day no-one is under no obligation to participate in any poll. I especially like them because (when they are done well) they...

1) are clearly very good at stimulating discussion (which is after all the point of a discussion forum).
2) make people think about and answer (or challenge) the specific question asked rather than the one that they would like to answer.
3) show how many people were interested enough in the question to participate (even those who don't have time to post a comment).

And, more importantly they...

4) help to show if the 'dominant' view (from the discussion) really is that of the majority of the forum or merely that of a small but active/vocal minority.
5) finally, the results are there clearly for everyone to see and draw their own conclusions (and comment on if they desire).

All of these factors can add tremendously to the discussion. I fail to understand why anyone would object to polls specifically unless maybe they are uncomfortable with being shown to be in a minority.

Once again I extend my thanks to the many of you that have participated by voting and commenting in the polls I have posted so far. I hope that you have all found them as interesting and informative as I have and that you will continue to participate in future polls...

Hi Adam

I think a lot of the comments in this particular poll were said, "tongue in cheek" as we do like to have a laugh when any opportunity presents itself (PO is such a serious and negative subject) ..... I trust you understand. :)

No problem snow hope.

BTW I don't mind if there is no response but I hope that you can find the time to read my response to your questions as I put quite a bit of effort into them.

Adam
