To answer your question regarding the attitudes down the boozers, Miss Madam: I regularly hear the credit-crunch being used jokingly to blame for things ranging from people's lack of punctuality to the cost of a pint. People are talking about things, but very few in any sort of depth which is goig to be beneficial when things really start getting bad. It's the typical British situation at the mimute, moan relentlessly, retain stiff upper-lip and blame the government...

Let's see:

1. The only decent MacBurger ever ... 'The M Burger' ... appeared and then disappeared a few short weeks later.

2. Brown f***ed up our economy.

3. WD40 ramped up to $147 a gallon but then slumped back to $40 a gallon. Weird.

4. A pair of foul mouthed yobs were slung off TV, apparently for an error of judgement, but in reality because the Beeb found out that the Deadly Duo were hated throughout the land.

5. Woolies went bust. Should have kept the wooden floors.

6. A deadly ... and apparently incurable ... disease called 'Denver Blog Rot' crossed the pond and even afflicted this very forum.

7. The UK went bust ... oops, that's in the future ... sorry ...
Muwhahahahahahahaaa that is so bang on :-) Liked Andy's dig for victory too :-)

Am doing a climate change impact analysis study for the HK govt to feed into China's national comunique on climate change... it's lots of fun, but the bureaucracy and 'politics' is shall we say - very special.

Spare time is an elusive concept given Hong Kong's working culture.... they sure get their pound of flesh, I'm pulling 12 hour days. Also as the pound is now effectively worthless Hong Kong isn't cheap :? Still the tax free salary helps make up for it!!! Also there are a lot of fun things to do and see, the view from the Peak at night is amazing (and in itself an excellent illustration of our dependence upon cheap energy and complex, vulnerable systems) C

HK is like going to your local shopping mall and staying there for the rest of your life

I know being sent to a temple of consumerism for four months isn't quite as much fun for the PO aware.... I don't buy bling or brand names so am looked at like a freak. Even the office cleaner wears Vivienne Westwood.... I kid you not.
